Why I built this

I was spending a little over two hours tailoring my resume and writing a cover letter for every single job opening. And that was WITH a chatbot helping me. And by the end of that I could not tell whether the newly tailored resume was better than the generic one I started with. It was not sustainable. Job hunting became the most important task that I’d put off every week.

The problem

I tried ChatGPT. I tried several of the paid resume tools too. None of them simplified the grind. None of them positioned me as the best candidate in a crowded field. None improved the process.

What I needed was a repeatable process: one with the best practices already built in so I didn’t read every resume tip article that came across my feed. One that didn’t leave me guessing what the hiring manager wanted to see. One that got me from posting to submission faster.

The turn: from grind to method

I set out to break it down and build it. Every application taught me something, and I’d improve the process. A little faster each time. A little easier each time. Eventually it became The Forge Method™. Full tailored resumes AND cover letters were written in half the time. I started winning time back. I was more confident with the quality of the writing. The process was improving.

Woven into the methodology is an underlying belief: a resume is not a list of facts or a documentation of your work history. It is an argument for why your skills and experience make you the best person for THIS job. Keyword stuffers and raw chatbots fail to make that argument.

What this is not

The Forge Method is not an easy button. It’s not a bulk applier. It doesn’t make your resume “pretty”. It doesn’t stuff your resume full of keywords. It shows why your skills and experience match this job.
